Looking to get out of the city for a day and enjoy that fresh, fall breeze? Trax Farms in Finleyville, PA is the perfect pumpkin patch near Pittsburgh for “yinzers” to celebrate the season. Hayrides, pumpkin picking, dining, and shopping are all available this year with coronavirus precautions in place – and just 35 minutes from Downtown Pittsburgh!
The Hayrides to the Pumpkin Patch
Hayrides are available by reservation only so Trax Farms can monitor the number of people in the pumpkin patch. This ensures that a safe social distance can be maintained at all times. Although the reservations are every hour on the hour, you can arrive at any time within that hour.
Here’s a tip: Do not show up exactly at your reservation time! You will end up waiting in line for a less crowded tractor. Instead, plan to arrive 20-40 minutes after your scheduled time.
At the top of the hill, make your way through the three-acre corn maze, interact with the farm animals and of course, pick pumpkins. Thanks to social distancing precautions it is never too crowded for a photo-opt with your soon to be jack-o-lantern.
The Market with the Cidery
As you make your way back down the hill, perfect pumpkin in hand, head into the Trax Farms Market. This place is unbelievable. They have all of the home decor you can imagine from knick-knacks to lawn ornaments. It’s one of those places where you just can’t help but admire everything. They also have the most delicious, fresh produce and homemade treats that are absolutely to die for.
Inside the market, you can find a deli and a cidery – which is perfect because you need to bring your own food to order alcohol at the cidery. Grab yourself a sandwich to-go and head over to the cidery to try their tasty flavors. There are great vibes and plenty of seating both inside and outside.
It’s safe to say that Trax Farms has outdone themselves this season by offering fall festivities that are safe and fun for everyone. This place went above and beyond my expectations for a fun day at the pumpkin patch near Pittsburgh. Can’t wait to see what they do next season!
