Our Wedding

November 28, 2023

Fun Fact: One of my freelance clients is a wedding photographer. She shares gorgeous photos with me and I have the honor of narrating these strangers’ love stories. They are beautiful and wholesome and I figured, why not do this for our wedding? Not that a wedding post is at all relevant on this travel blog but hey, it’s my blog. I can do what I want! So, here it is…

Nicholas and Lindsey

It all started at a bar. Thanks to divine intervention and some friends of friends, Nick and Lindsey met outside of Tequilla Cowboy in Pittsburgh in March of 2020. Yup, you read that correctly. The last weekend before the world shut down and the global pandemic took over. Talk about fate!

Lindsey was in town celebrating her 23rd birthday, and Nick lived in the city. From across the street, his friend recognized hers and the boys strategically cut the line by introducing themselves. Nick stuck around for the rest of the birthday festivities, which continued all weekend long, and by the time Lindsey left Pittsburgh on Monday morning they both knew this would be something special. Nick even called his mom one week later and said, “I met my wife!”

A long-distance relationship during a global pandemic with ever-changing travel restrictions was an interesting place to start, but in many ways, it was Nick and Lindsey’s greatest blessing. They spent many hours talking on the phone and getting to know one another. Whenever they did get to see each other, it was always for a couple of weeks at a time thanks to work-from-home mandates and travel restrictions. Dinner dates meant cooking at home and the most exploring they could do was a walk in the neighborhood with Lindsey’s puppy, Meeko. It was a perfect situation for getting to know each other very well, very fast. Lucky for them, it led to love.

Exactly two years later, on Lindsey’s 25th birthday, Nicholas planned a fairytale proposal in the most magical place on Earth. Right there in front of Cinderella’s Castle in Magic Kingdom, he got down on one knee and asked Lindsey to marry him. Truthfully, neither of them could recite exactly what was said. They were both so overcome with nerves, joy, and straight euphoria!

That summer, the wedding planning began! With help from their families, and especially Nick’s sister-in-law who just so happens to be the best wedding planner in central PA, the date was set.

Getting married in State College was a no-brainer for Lindsey and Nick. It’s absolutely gorgeous there in the fall, it is a great central location for their friends and family across the state and, simply put, it’s home. On the morning of the wedding, Nick and his groomsmen got together at his parent’s house to enjoy a homemade brunch and some yard games. Lindsey and her bridesmaids met at her sister-in-law’s house where they danced to Taylor Swift and helped each other get ready. The bride and her momma shared a special moment together as she stepped into her thrifted wedding gown from Bridal Maven in Pittsburgh.

Upon arriving at the venue, Lindsey and Nick could not wait to see each other. They planned to read their vows to one another during their first look in a private little ceremony for two. Nicholas was waiting at the alter, back turned, as Lindsey came rushing down to see him! They were absolutely giddy jumping into each other’s arms. The vow exchange was sweet, personal, and everything they wanted.

Soon after, the happy couple reunited with their closest family and friends for a fun-loving photoshoot! The day was perfectly planned and left plenty of time for everyone to relax and enjoy the beautiful weather in an even more beautiful space.

As guests started to arrive, Lindsey was feeling more and more nervous to walk down the aisle. She was beyond excited to marry Nick and dance the night away with all their family and friends, but something about standing front and center in front of all those people was simply daunting. Luckily, their pup Meeko offered some much-needed comedic relief just before the bride started down the aisle, arm and arm with her parents. When she made it to the alter on two feet and gave herself away, Nick was so incredibly proud of her. His hometown pastor gave a great sermon that touched everyone in attendance. Finally, it was time to seal the deal with a kiss and get the party started!

Cocktail hour was a sea of hugs and thanks. Meeko was the star of the show, and his specialty drink, Meeko’s Margarita, was a hit! The night kept on rolling right along with Taylor Swift reception introductions, heartfelt toasts by the best man and maid of honor, and ridiculously good food on a constant rotation throughout the night. The dance floor was lively until the very end and Nick and Lindsey were tearing it up with all their favorite people. By the end of the night, they were absolutely riding the high of wedding bliss!

From the very bottom of our hearts, we want to thank The Jepsons for capturing all of these precious moments from our wedding day. They are a kind, funny, and talented couple and we are so happy to have spent our wedding day smiling and laughing with them.

To Megan and Derek at B Events, thank you for bringing our colorful, doggo-centered vision to life. We couldn’t have done it without you. My best advice to every bride is simple: hire these two.

To everyone who joined us on September 30th, thank you. We love you. It wouldn’t have been the same without you there.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled travel content 🙂
